Crestron OS 3 Supports Multiple Homes, Apple Integration, and New Interface

Speedier, smoother, and stylish—that’s how we would describe the new Crestron Home OS 3, a complete update to its operating system and app. For years Crestron’s smart systems were geared towards commercial spaces, but the new update ensures a full resurgence in residential systems. OS 3 had the largest beta testing ever, with 250 integrators testing the operating system before the release to the public.

As we move into 2020, it’s time to say goodbye to outdated technology that’s more of a hassle than it’s worth. Why not merge all of your devices under one system like Crestron? Continue reading to see how the new OS 3 can add elegance and comfort to your Beverly Hills, CA home.

New Appearance

The new interface has an entirely revamped look, with responsive, smooth performance and new icons to save favorites. You can use photos of your home to represent rooms on each screen, so you’ll intuitively swipe through to adjust lights, music, locks, motorized shades, and more. Crestron Home OS 3 has the same back-end operating system as its previous OS 2, which was called Pyng. For years, Crestron relied on its dealers (like Future Home Theater here in Beverly Hills) to create the custom user interface for clients. While that allows for extensive customization, it could take more time to deploy a system. The new interface is modern, beautiful, and easy to use, and allows for simplified customization as well.

Supports Even More

With the new update, you can now control multiple properties in one system. No matter how far apart they are—one house in L.A., another in New York—you can easily keep an eye on each of your homes’ security, energy use, and activity. Your system can also handle 300 lighting loads, 100 motorized shades, 24 remotes, 32 video sources, 32 Crestron speaker zones, 32 sensors, and up to 120 keypads. So, if you have a lot to automate, no worries—Crestron can handle it.

New Partners

OS 3 is now also compatible with many of your favorite brands for the first time. Users can now integrate their Crestron home system with Apple Homekit and Apple TVs, with Siri voice control available on the TSR-310 touch screen remote. Crestron has improved its smart TV support, using IP control to manage smart TVs through Crestron Home. Streaming apps are also supported, including Prime Video, Apple TV, Netflix, and YouTube. Plus, its systems can now fully integrate with Lutron lighting and shade systems. Who says Crestron doesn’t play well with others?
